It'll soon be time for all those yearly physicals. Please think about and plan ahead for your child's physical. Please don't wait until the end of the summer as we run out of appointments quite easily. Call soon to schedule your appointment!
The Chicago Public Schools have a very shortened summer due to the strike, etc. That'll make appointment availability very tight. Please be prepared!!!!

Welcome to our Website
If you're a new patient or prospective patient, we hope that our website helps to give you a good insight as to how our practice works. We like to inform our patients as much as possible during our visits, but we also use information on our website to supplement and back-up what we've discussed.
Use the toolbar at the right of each page to negotiate through our website. For various health related issues, we have many articles for different ages, conditions, seasonal information, and we've also included various weblinks that you may find helpful.
For "nuts and bolts" of how our practice runs, please go to thePractice Info section. Here you can find information about making appointments, getting referrals, office hours, emergency coverage, doctor, billing, and other helpful information.
You may want to read the appropriate section of the "Growth and Development" section before you come in for your child's visit. Re-reading it after the visit will also help to refresh many of the issues that were talked about during the visit.
New articles will appear with brown color font to find them easily.

Update on MCV-4, PCV-13, and Vitamin D daily Intake (2-28-12):
MCV-4 (Meningococcal Vaccine - to prevent meningitis and other infections caused by meningoccus): For the past 10 years, children get their first vaccine to prevent Menningococcus infecton around age 11-12 years of age. NEW recommendations from ACIP, CDC and AAP include a booster dose after age 16 y. Colleges are now asking for these booster dose dates too. No need for an extra appointment for most children unless you have medical form due soon. We will update you at the next routine visit.
PCV-13 (Pneumococal Vaccine - to prevent infections caused by pneumococcus including: meningitis, some ear infections, blood infections): The recommendations call for a dose of PCV13 to be given at 2, 4, 6 and 12 through 18 months of age. In addition, all children 14 through 59 months of age who have received an age-appropriate series of PCV7 should be given a single supplemental dose of PCV13 since they remain at risk for IPD(Invasive Pneumococcal Disease) caused by the six additional serotypes unique to PCV13.
